Scope of Practice

  • a professional breastfeeding support counselor who has demonstrated the necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities to provide breastfeeding education and management support

  • demonstrates continuous clinical competencies and skills required to provide safe, evidence-based counseling for pregnant, lactating, and breastfeeding families

Code of Ethics

  • Provide to all persons reliable and accurate information concerning the professional performance of duties

  • Be attentive to the group discussions and listen respectfully without interrupting conversations.

  • Maintain the highest standards of personal conduct practicing within the legal constraints of the individual’s scope of practice to bring credit to the lactation field

  • Promote and encourage the highest level of ethics within the profession.
