Project: Cincy CHIP (Community Health Improvement Plan) - Access to Care Lead 2024, Cincinnati, OH

The purpose of the Community Health Assessment (CHA) is to learn about the health of the Cincinnati population, identify contributing factors to higher health risks or poorer health outcomes, and determine what assets and resources are available to improve the population health status. 

  1. Prevention (CDC), the Bureau of the Census’ American Community Survey (Census: ACS), the Ohio Department of PublicHamilton County Public Health, Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS), the Center for Disease Control andSources of data for this report include the Cincinnati Health Department (CHD), the Ohio Department of Health, Safety (ODPS), the Ohio Development Services Agency (ODSA), the Ohio Mental Health and Addiction Services (OMHAS),the Health Resources and Services Association (HRSA), the United States Department of Agriculture Economic ResearchService (USDA ERS), and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

  2. The Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) is developed with partners and stakeholders to improve the health of the community by working in a coordinated fashion using the MAPP framework to tackle a few key priority health issues. The goal of MAPP (Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships) is to achieve health equity by identifying urgent health issues in a community and aligning resources.

  3. Act as subject matter experts or "boots on the ground" that develop goals for the priority area, identify (evidence-based or innovative) strategies to address the issue in this environment, and establish targets and metrics.

Organization: Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center

Project: ODHBH23 Equity Innovations, Cincinnati, OH

The mission of the Ohio Department of Health is to advance the health and well-being of all Ohioans by transforming the state’s public health system through unique partnerships and funding streams; addressing the community conditions and inequities that lead to disparities in health outcomes; and implementing data-driven, evidence-based solutions. The Office of Health Opportunity focuses on systems changes to eliminate population-level disparities in Ohio.

  1. Grant Administration (Project Deliverable 1): Participate in quarterly calls with ODH, With PI, develop quarterly and final reporting to ODH, With PI, and develop the project evaluation plan.

  2. Program Planning (Project Deliverable 2): Assist PI with community outreach regarding Ambassador opportunities, recruit and train additional Ambassadors, manage Ambassador work at community events, including creating schedule timelines and templates, and development of the infrastructure to evaluate completed work, develop REDCap data collection tools appropriate for each intervention and develop and generate reports, develop a sustainability plan for the project. 

  3. Implementation and Evaluation (Project Deliverable 3): Assist with implementation activities by providing infrastructure and developing and procuring materials as needed, including scheduling ambassadors for events, keeping a timeline of events, timely invoicing; monitoring the status data from implementation events and activities, and provide infrastructure for the development of the scholarship application and review process and the outcomes data. 

  4. Dissemination (Project Deliverable 4): With PI, develop a plan for dissemination activities, including meetings, ODH presentations, and potential other meetings and opportunities (Breastfest, USBC, etc.).

  5. Provide technical support for Southwest Ohio Breastfeeding Coalition, The BACCS Project, All Mom Empowered to Nurse, Under on Sky Lactation Services.

Organization: Massachusettes Department of Public Health, Boston, MA 

DPH launched the Vaccine Equity Initiation (VEI) in 2021 to work with communities hardest hit by COVID-19. This initiative springboarded the need for community engagement to elevate the needs of specific populations beyond COVID-19. RHE, LLC. Leveraging evidence-based best practices and theory into practice to develop public health planning models and strategic plans following specified regulatory requirements; carried out an organizational assessment to determine problems affecting its operation and proposed solutions to improve its work culture and program operations. Our responsibilities included developing tools for the leadership team to include stakeholders analysis, SWOT/TOWS to provide a focused assessment of risks to public health, behavioral health, and healthcare sectors; PRECEDE/PROCEED model to offer a systematic approach to internal performance and health equity process surveillance systems; and optimized resources and streamlined health care delivery processes. Additionally, our responsibilities included managing and providing project management consulting services, project planning, and coordination (2022).

Service(s): Social Science Data & Evaluation: Discrimination/Racism as Determinants of Health

Organization: B.R.E.A.S.T. 4 Babes, Inc., Philadelphia, PA

RHE, LLC. aided in a qualitative research study used to conceptualize the multidimensional constructs of the social-ecological model to investigate the individual, interpersonal, institutional, and community-level structures and existing policies in birthing centers that inadvertently harbor biases that impede care for Black mothers. Our responsibilities included; Managing and building internal and external stakeholder relationships and communications strategies, Collaborating closely with others to develop new surveys and questionnaires, testing survey links, and proofreading documentation, Develop programmatic infrastructure, systems, and strategic sustainability plan to include community-focused public health and clinical experts to guide program activities (2019, 2020, & 2021).

Project: Annual Conference(s) to Eliminate Racial Disparities in Breastfeeding & Infant Mortality, Cincinnati, OH

RHE, LLC. operating as a strategic planning consultant to assist community-based organizations, the local boards of health, and other health agencies with improvements to current health inequities regarding health services and infant mortality, developing comprehensive strategic planning tools for eliminating racial disparities. Serving on the conference planning committee, Chairing the conference poster session, serving as a content expert, conference host, workshop speaker, and key topic moderator/presenter: Annual Conference to Eliminate Racial Disparities in Breastfeeding and Infant Mortality, Ohio Infant Mortality Summit (2016, 2017, & 2018)
